Bought my first RC plane yesterday. Only had Sim experience from a couple iPad and iPhone apps. Unboxed the Super Cub, installed the floats right off the bat and took her (and mine) on its first flight EVER.
Picked a small local lake with nobody around, set her in the water and said a prayer. Lol. It was pretty breezy but I was dying to see this plane in action.. Went full throttle and.... it didn't even lift off the water. Brought her back to land, figured out I put the bigger prop on backwards (true novice style) and fixed my rookie mistake. Attempt #2 blew my mind!! The Cub took off like a rocket and up it went! My heart was pounding out of my chest, my hands were shaking and I was trying to stay focused. The wind was more than I expected, almost bringing the plane to a stall with full throttle. Scary moments but I was able to buzz around a few times and decided I better bring it in for my very first landing flying ANYTHING.. And it was on water... Yikes. THANK GOD for those Simulators I've been practicing on!!!! Throttled back, kept her into the wind, level, and set her down like a pro!! Needless to say, I'm hooked. I love this plane. Can't wait to get back out on a windless day to really have some fun.
