I recently bought a SuperCub off a buddy and am having issues with the ESC/Motor. Well long story short...with the battery connected we were testing everything and somehow the two motor wires at the connectors touched. Sure enough the ESC became super hot and the motor was not responding. I pulled the battery right away. I'm pretty sure the ESC is shot and just want to know if the motor is too. Is there a way to test the motor and see if it is or not? I know they are cheap and probably would be a good idea to just replace anyway. I ordered a new one from LHS and just wanted to check and see if this motor is usable. thank you.
the set up. Turnigy 30a brushed ESC stock motor orangerx dx5
any help would be great! Thanks again!

It's a brushed motor. It should run (remove prop) by putting the contacts on an ordinary D (even A) cell. It's likely fine. The ESC is easy to fry with what you did.

Well still waiting for my ESC from hobbyking, but in the mean time I took your advice flydiver and the motor checked out fine. Rx and servos seem to be good as well. Thanks for the tip. Never thought to do that. :-)

Never thought to do that. :-) Good, glad it worked. Shipments from HK can take awhile. If you don't want to be forever frustrated NEVER order ANYTHING out of stock. They hold the entire order.
