Hard to say. Is your cub 27/35mhz, or is it a DSM? If DSM, then yes, it will work fine. If it's the others, then you need a few upgrades to use a DX6i. I personally would continue for now with what you have. If in a months time or so, you still feel the same, then go for it. And welcome to our club!

As toff said. If it's a really good deal AND you are DSM already, then it's worth it. If not DSM you have to do significant changes to the Cub to make it work.

I really like the DX6i - I've used it for a while and have just upgraded to the DX8. What radio are you using now? The DX4e which comes with the RTF? The DX6i provides room for growth, digital trims, 10-user memory (for room as you grow...and undoubtedly you will!), improved control on rates for each of the three channels, and (one really big factor) exponential control around the center points of your sticks. Lots of other extras including a timer, mixing, nicer sticks, 6 channels (great for future flaps and gear and maybe dual ailerons), etc.
For the price, the DX6i is - to me - a fantastic radio and a very worthwhile upgrade from the DX4e.

So, what settings should I use for the DX6i for the SC? I believe the stock radio uses D/R of 70% for low and 100% for high, is that correct? What about EXP? What about travel adjustment, or is that entirely taken care of in moving the pin on the servo control horn? Any other settings that I should change from standard for DX6i ACRO (airplane)?

I was given the DX6i by my kids for my Christmas present. I'm in heaven! I have been flying my SC for a few months now on a DX5, and bought myself the F4F Wildcat BNF and have been flying BOTH planes on the DX6i. I have a MIG-15 that I am working up to, and all three planes are supported by the DX6i. Concerning D/R, you're on the right track at 70% LOW/ 100% HIGH. It's a personal preference thing, and you'll get the hang of what you like out in the field and you'll adjust accordingly. As far as EXPO is concerned, I went with 30% on elevator and aileron (where my rudder is presently hooked up) on the SC. I've done the same with the Wildcat. As far as adjustments to your control horns is concerned, take those a step at a time. Maybe get accustomed to your D/R settings on LOW & HIGH and leave those TX control adjustments alone. Next, move in a notch on your control horn holes (elevator/rudder) and get the hang of that. Once you have advanced your skill level, and have moved to your inner most control horn holes, there's probably not much MORE you can do to maximize the SC capabilities....time for airerons or a new plane!! This is the route I have taken here recently.
Oh and ummm.............I'm a rookie flier too...

vetfan1, I have a new DX6i and a new supercub and love both of them. I am new to the hobby so I am learning as I go but so far, first two flights ended needing parts but not the last three flights. Everything went great. I did a range check first. When I did everything on the plane worked as it should @ 100'. From there I had a blast. DX6i works great with my cub.
