I flew my Supercub with my GPS unit on top and produced these graphs of my altitude, speed, and flight track. What GPS units have others tried on your SC. Kenai1

Well he started at 2000ft and looks like he pounded it 50 feet into the ground upon landing....lol. I wonder how that is?

The lower finish elevation is probably due to not letting the GPS acquire staellites a little longer before flying. Next time I wll try it after leaving it on for 10 minutes. I have a few other GPS untis with Altimeters built in but I think they my be a bit heavy for the Cub.

I use the SkyTraceGPS Logger ( www.magtechinc.net/SkyTraceGPS.htm). What I like about it is that it was designed specifically for RC use, which means it's as light as can be. Also, it exports the data into Google Earth KML/KMZ files, and you can also link aerial photos to the geo-coordinates within those files. Check out this KMZ file that I created with my plane and camera, which shows location-based photos of an oncoming monsoon storm in Phoenix, AZ: mattclipper.com/photos/ap/2008-08-14SkyTrace.kmz (22 MB) Note, that you must have Google Earth installed to view this file. Also, in order to see the pictures, expand the SkyTraceGPS Flight Log tree in the "Places" sidebar in Google Earth. You can find out more about the device and discussion about it at this RCGroups thread: www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=884263

The speed is in kilometers per hour and the other graph is in feet.

Thanks for that. The Cub seems to be fast even when throttled back and if my calculations are correct, the slowest (23Km/Hr) = 14mph [except when landing] with the fastest (50Km/Hr) = 31mph. The average seems to be about 38Km/H = 24 mph. I can see now why it can get out of sight so quickly - even more so if downwind. Great graphs and data - good to study when it's too windy - like the last 5 days in the UK! Regards retiredbri
