I know there is a place for questions on Radio and Battery's, the reason I posted here is I have a few questions on my situation and didn't want to go all over the place.
I had a Hobbyzone, Aerobird Xtreme that I lost. I was going to order a, "Replacement Plane," that is everything with the plane W/O the radio, and battery.
I meet a guy flying a SC and loved it. I want to get one. I'm kind of low in funds right now.
I noticed they have a, "Replacement Plane" for the SC also. I looked at the frequency's and they are the same as the ABX.
I was thinking of getting the Supper Cub Replacement Plane ($95.99) and use my Radio (CH1 FM26.995M) from the ABX. It looks the same except it doesn't have the ACT, which I wouldn't use anyway.
Will there be any problem with using this radio? Any reason it won't work if I get the SC with CH1?
Later on I want to get Lipo's, but for now I have two ABX battery's.
The stock SC battery is 8.4V 1000mAh. The ABX uses a different battery. It's a 7.2V 1800mAh 6 Cell. Does this mean it will have less power (7.2V vs. 8.4V) but last a lot longer (1000mAh vs. 1800mAh)?
Do you think this will work until I can get into Lipo and charger?
Is this a crazy idea? I was hoping to get a plane cheaper and at the same time, use some equipment I already have for a while. Thank you for any help, Chris.

The TX will likely work. The signal change from rudder/elevator > V-tail is done on the internal control panel in the ABX. I have a Ch. 2 Aerobird Challenger (pre-version 3) and it would control my Ch 2 Super cub. The 7.2v battery is unlikely to work at all or be really lame. It just needs more volts. It clearly flies better with 8-cells and is pretty spunky with 3S lipo. 7-cells is acceptable but less is, well, probably too much less. You can get replacement batteries for less than HZ or the shop sells them. Do some reading in the battery section. Or check the sales here since a lot of guys sell theirs once they go to lipo. For 8 or greater cells you'll probably need a new charger (cute little way PZ has of getting money out of you). Here's an option for up; a bit of an upgrade: www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=831988fly

Thanks for the info. Looks like if I have to buy a battery, getting the replacement plane won't save money. I'll wait and get the whole package. Chris.
