Aluminium landing gear - Good idea?

Hi everyone,
Has anyone changed their plastic landing gear to aluminium?
(The plastic around the wire)
I was thinking of doing this but I was worried that the energy from the landing that usually bends the wire landing gear, will be sent to the battery box and rip it out, or slowly pull it loose over time.
I have put glue around the box under the fuselage to re-enforce it. Is this substantial enough to protect it?
Any advice about this modification would be greatly appreciated!
