My question is just that. Should I switch over to the AR 6100 (which I have ready many poor reviews about) or keep with the stock rX on my Super cub? Which has more range?
If I should keep the stock setup...is it possible to put the 6100 in any of my micros? I have 2 Champs and a P-51D?

I'm no expert on Spektrum range (I don't use it but most of my buddies do) but 'in general' the consensus seems to be the RX itself is not range limited. It ends up being shadowed. The antenna is so short that the signal gets blocked by the battery, motor, or other impenetrable objects. The farther you get them more likely this seems to become due to weakening signal and angle changes due to distance. I doubt at the low end you'll see much difference. You can be somewhat certain that most of the Spektrum RX in similar price ranges will have similar components and quality, but that's a guess. HZ isn't going to tell. The 6100 is the same price as the entire RX/ESC for the SC so I 'suspect' the 6100 is better. I pretty much guarantee you will have no certain way to find out and Horizon certainly won't tell you that either. Anyone answering this with any certainty best have quantifying evidence, otherwise they are just speculating also. I read plenty and I see lots of opinions but often not much to back them up other than personal experience. If you simply HAVE to fly REALLY long distances with these little planes either get better RX with the antenna, or plane suitable for said distances. As you have found, getting out of range can have some unfortunate consequences. Do not expect the TX to make up for shortcomings in the RX-it ain't going to work that way. You might want to read this: DX7/AR7000/AR6100 Range Test www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=783753As for the micros...you are on your own. I don't mess with them at all. I suspect you might have weight and space issues.
