I have had a few rubber bands go real thin and snap, I've only had my SC for about 2 months, used it about 5/6 times. How long do they normally last? Any aftermarket ones that last longer?

I've had extremely variable results with 'rubber bands'. Unfortunately they are made out of all kinds of stuff nowadays, some good, some not so good. Sun (UV) and petrochemicals (solvent fumes, glue fumes, etc.) are death on them. It's a bit of a pain but they are best stored in an air tight container.

How long do they last? As Flydiver infers, that's like asking how long is a piece of string. Here in the UK, postal delivery people use rubber bands to hold their sorted mail on their rounds. Their discarded ones - and plenty are to be found - make ideal, free replacements for the stock SC ones.

Have to agree the rubber bands don't last long, if got some that have been stored in a box in a dark cool place for 20 years and they are perfect until exposed to the harsh sun we get down here in New Zealand . The original ones that came with the cub lasted about 3 days of flying before showing signs of perishing and going sticky, as to my replacement! Good thing they are cheap, but it's definitly not something to be overlooked

the stock rubber bands are crap, check with a office supply store they have bands that are uv protected and assorted color also the uv coating will help them last a bit longer, but rubber bands in general will become stretched after a number of flights, don't ask me how minny flights, I can't answer that

We keep household rubber bands in a plastic baggie in the refrigerator. Their shelf life is years, so you can stock up when you find a good source without worry.

I never had luck with the rubber bands that come with the SC. I had one snap while flying......yup.....you can guess how quickly I "landed" after that happened.
