Strange day!

Very strange day today!

LHS guy started on my deans conversion when I walked into the shop. Supposed to have been done yesterday.

SB352 buys a ParkZone Focke Wulf 190.

I buy a Venom Micro Rescue Helicopter for my son.



Now it gets strange.

I get out in the field first (SB352 still trying to put the 190 together) and hand launch. All systems are go, then I loose all control and my SC is headed north. I cut power and it descends (?) and lands beyond my visual range. SB352 marks location of last sight and I walk. I located my SC but it sustained flight ending damage.





SB352 is second to get airborne with his SC (190 still not put together) and he is flying great! I take some video, then turn off camera and turn my attention to other things. Soon after turning camera off I hear SB352 say something about "loop" so I look up and see him vertical almost in a stall. His SC makes something resembling a hammer head and is now inverted. I'm now kicking myself in the butt for turning the camera off. SB352's SC continues to fly inverted (very impressive) but takes on a nose to ground attitude and gaining speed. At this time I'm really wishing I didn't turn the camera off. Just as it looks like his SC is going to make a big hole in the ground he pulls out of this inverted dive and flies away like nothing happened. I turn to SB352 and he says "I don't know". He flies on and makes a great landing.

We also find out on subsequent flights that we loose control of the SC north of where we are standing (direction of where I lost my SC), and have no problems south of where we are standing. I have no idea why this is happening.

Anyways, we will fly on Saturday. ;D

You must be getting some interference in that northern direction? if he meant to do an inverted flight then buy that man a beer... or 6!!!

Hey frazer1981; Trust me I didnt mean to put the sc inverted and have no idea how it happened,put it did look pretty cool.I think my SC was temporarily under its own control and just tired of being "wrecked"LOL.On the subject of the 190,nice looking plane but still dealing with attaching the wing to the fuse .Gonna throw away the supplied screws to are so small they look like they are intended for fastening toothpicks together instead of a wing

Yeah those thin screws are a PITA. I used hex head screws from GP that were intended for servo mounting....they work great. Plus you get the screw locked into the allen head and you can controll where it goes better. Make sure to tape the underside of that beauty. they do not like landing on anything rougher than a pillow. The covering onthe foam rips and tears easily, leaving you analizing your hind site.

mrmugen Should I tape all of the underside of the wing?And well packing tape do the trick?

You can but I think 1 or 2 good strips of 3M extreme would be best. From tip to tip with a double wide tape job. I only use one pass with 3MX but mine flexes quite a bit.

Regular packing tape would work but it is not that sticky. The adhesive on 3MX is 10x's better. Use a hair dryer to make the glue tackier on any tape.

OK mrmugen,Just got done taping. Went 4 wide along the bottom of the fuse with less tacky packing tape 3m. Went about 3inches in from each wing tip and cut the tape around the hand hold and mounting screws.Let me know if you think this will work.

It will work but you have to remember how much flex is in the tape used. It will eventually wear out but will work fine for a while. On warm days it will stretch pretty good. The strapping tape works good for wings also.
