Anyone used it? Which parts are necessary to treat with this product and any advice on its application? Any cautions with corrosion x around foam? Your thoughts are always appreciated.
Cheers
Andy

Should I dip my receiver/esc in it? Spray the product onto the rec/esc? Or should i just leave it alone? Im using stock everything and a dsm receiver.

Hi Just wondering why you should be considering using this anyway? Is there something about your locality that corrodes RC aircraft?

Nahh, I'm serious, John. Alaska is a far cry from the UK - although I would have thought that if anything was going to be corrosive, it's the climate of our own damp little island!

Uh, yeah. Water and float flying, electronics. Alaska has plenty of h2o... both fresh and salt. More coastline than the whole contiguous United States though I didnt post here to give a geography lesson... just inquiring about waterproofing my super cub for some water flying fun. If others dont have information about corrosion x, what other methods are people using for preventative measures with electronics around water?

Is this the twilight zone? Do I need to repost this somewhere else? I do have a serious question. All my research points to the use of corrosion x for my other seaplane which is a catalina but not on the servos. My question remains... has anyone used corrosion x on the hz super cub? I figure the only part needing treatment is the rx/esc. Has anyone done this? Anyone have any other waterproofing ideas? Anyone have any serious responses to this question? Anyone.....?

Not sure whom you are calling rude.... I just asked a simple question about a somewhat serious issue and I get side chatter and off topic silliness. If you are unable to provide any pertinent information please allow others to answer my question without the distracting posts you have provided. There is an "off topic" thread...

I appreciate the on point response flydiver... I too have found loads of info on the corrosion x subject and I think it will work... I was just looking for someone who has had experience with the cub electronics and corrosion x specifically.... especially the dsm receiver/esc. Do you fly with floats flydiver? If so, what have you done for preventative waterproofing? I'd like to be sure I won't ruin my receiver. Id hate to be grounded just before our many lakes thaw.
Thanks

I just asked a simple question about a somewhat serious issue and I get side chatter and off topic silliness. If you are unable to provide any pertinent information please allow others to answer my question without the distracting posts you have provided. Returning to this forum after about 18 hours, I find your quoted remarks. I hope they are directed solely towards others who subsequently appear to have deleted the posts to which you took such offence. But should your charges of "side chatter and off topic silliness" include me, I make no apology that I asked a perfectly pertinent question about your original query - before you clarified it by revealing that you were intending to land on water. And my second post was a light-hearted (but relevant) response to another post which has since been deleted. I don't believe that veteran SCC members traditionally consider such asides to be "off topic silliness". I hope you will continue to post on this board. I also hope you will accept that there has always been a certain amount of levity here. It's all part of the fun of the SCC, and long may it continue.

Like I said - I've never used it and never have done floats. There's no reason to believe that the Cub brick should be any different than any other RX and ESC (except it's kinda lame to start). Seems like people are dunking their entire RX in the stuff and it works afterward. Unless you want to wait for someone to validate that you only have that experience to work from.

'Off topic silliness' is one of the few reasons I still lurk about here - I refuse to take what is essentially 'big boys toys' in any way seriously. This is a hobby, supposed to be fun, and the silliness is just part of it - just look at my 'shed' post - utterly stupid, but great fun! According to the blurb on the corrosion x site - 'protects electrical connections'...... Use it, won't do any harm!

Silliness aside the guy was asking a question and getting nothing worth while. I think he was getting a bit frustrated.

What the hell's going on? Is there a load of stuff I missed? I presume is all johns posts that were deleted. Should have left 'em on john. Chill out man......sounds like your kicking off at all of us, when i for one, have no Idea what has been said. Akdodger...NO! No one has used it..... If you're not willing to give it a test, try asking on RCgroups.com, maybe someone there might have given it a go. From the sound of it, its just like WD40 oil spray, and using that would just be silly. If you're worried about the rx getting wet, put it in a plastic bag and seal the end with a tie-wrap. The servos and stuff are pretty well sealed anyway.

Thanks for the advice toff... Us Alaskans are generally a fun-loving bunch....until you get our dander up. My main concern re: corrosion x is the difference between my hzsc plastic esc receiver and other esc and receivers I have come across. I thought surely that this thread with its wealth of knowledge would have an answer... I'm game to experiment though.... I'll post back
