I am trying to discharge / charge my nimh battery. i have this one: secure.hobbyzone.com/hobbyzone_supercub/hobbyzone_supercub_parts/HBZ1013.htmlAnd like i said, i have the hitec X1 charger. I set it on the discharge, then charge mode. And after about 3 minuites into the cycle, it says dry. and stops. Then it goes to either the discharge or charge state again. What is it doing? Cant find the defenition for "dry" anywhere in the manual. And it seems like the first cycle was about 3 mins before it said dry, and the 2nd cycle is at about 10 mins now, and hasnt said it yet?

Dry is the rest stage between discharge and charge. You can tweak this (time) setting in the main menu.
What it shows is your pack has essentially no capacity left. I suspect if you cycle that battery a bunch you may get enough capacity back to taxi it 50' down the runway. Doubt it'll fly.
Are you using those settings I gave you? If so you should only be able to get in 1 cycle in 24 hours. If your settings are way higher then you aren't going to get decent results.

so if it ever shows dry, your batt is probably done for?

No, dry is just the end of discharge-a wait state to rest the battery between cycles. It'll do that with a top notch battery.
But in your case the extremely short discharge is probably indicative of no capacity. A good fully charged 1000mA battery at your probable maximum discharge of 1.0A would take almost an hour to discharge and a similar time to charge at 1A.
As I tell people often - flying is easy, the electrics are hard.

lol well im currently in my last year of a avionics program in canada. Youd think id know somethin about batteries REAL pilots can't fly RC either. In fact they are generally worse at learning. My old best friend was a mechanical engineer. He was a lousy mechanic. Don't expect much of what you are learning to transfer.
