Repairs to "Red Dog 1" from Damage sustained on day of maiden flight, approximately 6 launches and landings.
Damage sustained:
1. Missing wheel nut.
2. Busted wing struts.
3. Loose Batt box.
4. Two cracks in fuse in area of batt box.
Repair supplies purchased:
1. "Gorilla Glue" (Precision pen, Quick cure dries white).
2. Big roll of color "Duck Tape" (white).
3. "Du-Bro", nylon insert lock nuts (size 4-40).
Repair supplies on hand:
1. "Berkley" "Big Game" 15 lb. test mono.
2. "SPRO" swivels, size 2 (I think).
3. Snap swivels, (unknown manufacture) cut to make a hook on the snap side.
Here's the pictures.
Fuse was glued and then taped to hold in place while glue cured (tape left in place to add strength). You can also see the nylon lock nuts and swivel mono struts in this pic.
In this pic you can see everything that you can see in the above pic, note the expanded "Gorilla glue" around the batt box. After about 20 minutes the "Gorilla glue" became tacky and I was able to flatten it down with my finger. I am going to add some tape to other side of fuse to balance out and reinforce.
Pic of the mono struts attached to the wing. I cut the snap end of the swivel to make a hook then attached to the plastic deals on the wing. mono is semi taught, don't know if that's good or bad.
Non-maiden flight damage mods:
2 pieces of 5/32 brass tubing to landing gear to act as wheel bearing.
Purely for looks non-maiden flight mod:
Blacked out "Dave Brown" foam lite wheels with a black "Sharpie".
