Texas A&M Aggie - Pitts Special Cub
GIG'EM AGGIES!! WHOOP !!
Paint Job Process:
Paint: Rust-oleum Gloss (White, Maroon, & Clear Gloss Enamel)
Black Paint Pen
1) Plane dissembled to individual parts
2) Z foam sanded down using 600 grit wet/dry sand paper.
3) Plastic parts sanded under water.
4) Masked off Cowl/Tail/Prop/Spinner, using frog painters tape.
Trimmed/ shaped with Exacto Knife.
5) 2 coats of paint on all parts, plastic & foam, 48 hr dry time.
6) Clear coat (2 coats) / White (2 coats)
7) Tape mask on wings was dulled by sticking it to shirt a few
times. This way its a little less adhesive so it didn't pull off
initial white coat of paint. (this was an issue on test wing)
8) Maroon (2 coats)
9) Wings mask tape pulled off SLOWLY when paint still a little
wet so as to not get any dry breaks.
10) Small touch ups from paint bleeds under tape by spraying
paint in cap and using a brush.
11) Side stripes done with regular acrylic paint (Though I'd do
this with the spray paint if i had the chance to do it over.)
12) Decals and under wing lettering (paint pen) added for fun !
:-) Gig'em Aggies !
