Hello everyone! I am new to RC airplanes, however about a week ago my Super Cub came in the mail and I have flown it three times. It really is a wonderful plane. By the way, I'm fourteen-years-old-- but don't let my age fool you. I'm no spoiled brat (or at least I try not be one ). I just wanted to start this awesome hobby and learn more about it. Well, back to planes. My first flight went extremely well. No crashing-- yet-- but I am expecting one soon . After that happens, I'm probably going to upgrade my SC. That's why I came here: to learn more about my SC, how to fix it, upgrade it, make it look better, etc.. So that's about it... random facts about me: I love music... I play several instruments.. and I've had an interest in RC vehicles for years now. Thanks for reading! ~ s

Hi and welcome. I'm new here too. There's lots of useful info and some great posters on here. As for mods, the first ones I did were to increase wheel sizes, front (2.5") and back (1.25") for a way cooler look and for easier take offs and landings. I also did the wing strut mod, removing the mounting screws and replacing them with eye screws for quick and easy wing removal. I also taped up the inside of my engine cowl, just the front half, with white duct tape, as the cowl is very thin plastic and will crack or break easily. I only taped the front half because that's where all the plastic cut outs are (most likely to break areas), AND weight considerations.
Good Luck and Have Fun!

Welcome aboard, guys. You're in for a lot of fun (and mending with the wonderful SC. Make sure you strengthen the back of the wing saddle with a popsicle stick as soon as possible, before the foam becomes distorted / crushed. (That wing strut mod using eye screws is really worthwhile, mtgriz - saves a lot of screwing / unscrewing.) Happy flying, both of you.

also do the battery box mod, and if you do happen to crash, you can reglue with either epoxy or ca, also run some clear packing tape along the leading edge of the wing to help save on wing tip damage, if you want to paint, make sure its foam safe paint.

Hey guys welcome!
A great plane to learn and grow with. fixes are easy, mods are easy, very reliable and forgiving plane. When you are ready you can go brushless, which I have, and love. My cub probably gets more air time then my other planes, and this one is the most basic out of all my planes and helis.
Have fun!!

Hello everyone, and thank you for the warm welcome! mtgriz, the eye screw mod is clever... i need to get some of those..! and i am also planning on getting bigger wheels as well. I actually have done a mod already. I made a mount for my 808 Keychain Cam on the bottom of the fuselage. It looks really nice but it's shaky... im going to have to find a way to make it more stable. I am probably going to take on a paint-project soon. I want a new finish on my Cub. I'm leaning towards an army look.. but anyway, I'll go post about that in another section. Thanks again! ~ s
