Great Fix, just get some Plastic Dip (in a spray can) by Performix. Put a couple of coats inside and out, and no more cracks on hard landings and tip overs. This stuff is like a very thin rubber coating, works great on plastic landing gear covers also.

Let us know how that works out in practice. I tried it on my Weasel based on encouragement from some folks in the sloper community. My buddy that got a Weasel before I did was enthusiastic about it. IMO it was a mistake. It did NOT help with crashes and then it DID interfere with repairs. There is that nasty film that was partly ripped that would not strip off cleanly and in the way.
A foam plane repair is completely different than a cowl though so results may not be the same.

AS I said it's for the cowling...........NOT the foam! And it works great as long as you don't nose in at full power.

Dealing in the dollar regularly I can tell you £15.99 is actually more like $24.30.....Ouch! John

Stoopid me, John. I asked for conversion of £16 (rounded up from 15.99) to USD. Got the answer $25+ - but then stupidly put my original 16 in the above post. Old age is a dreadful curse . . .

yes John that's the stuff, in spray can, about $8 here in Texas, but good for about 20 cowls, maybe it can be a club project to help cut the cost. My friend slamed the ground so hard that the plane broke in half, tail broke off.and wing broke, but the cowling was OK.

yes John that's the stuff, in spray can, about $8 here in Texas, . . . What a difference in price UK v. US ! We find this all the time, US prices for identical items so much cheaper than here. Presumably someone in UK is getting fat. Hence the expression 'Rip-Off Britain'.

I think I'm going to fiberglass my next cowl with light fiberglass cloth and med CA glue. I'll need to add some weight to the nose to make it balance out anyway

Well, I could cut a cowl neatly in half and use that to make a fibreglass mould, then glue the two halves of the cowl together. Considering how little the plastic cowl weights though, I may as well just keep it inside the fibreglass.

My tuppence worth on the cowl reinforcement. I have painted this one, added a logo on each side, glued in mesh on the intakes and used some lightweight tape on the inside. For those of you that want to know the difference in weight, stock cowl weighs in at 15gms. My modified cowl weighs in at 21gms. Am I going to worry about that? No. Especially not when I update you on the tail mods, hopefully they might compensate each other when I get everything sorted and check the COG
