Someone posted to one of my questions awhile back saying you can have the signal blocked to your RX from TX by the motor, battery and servos. I was thinking about the times I lost signal when I first started flying my SC and both times it was same angle the plane was flying from when I lost control. At that angel the servos would possibly be in the way. I didn't thinking that sounded right because you have that long trailing antenna for the incoming signal correct?

Signal blocking is more common for the SHORT antenna 2.4GHz. Of course if you fly behind something large you can block any signal.
Signal interference is most common with 27Mhz, followed by 72Mhz. That said any radio frequency can have interference.
IMO, until proven otherwise it is probably something else.
