How to choose the right motor for our SC

I'd like to upgrade my SC to brushless and I'm really lost.
Considering I will buy everything from hobbyking I would appreciate your answers.
What are my needs ?

• More power because my cub is heavier with it's 2200 mAh lipo and a stronger landing gear. Now it takes time to lift it at high altitude. I plan to attach a camera (140g more)
  
• More speed
  

To make things easier to compare please advise me only about turnigy motors at hobbyking.

About the motor mount: Can I fit almost any motor with approximately the same size or do I need to restrict my choice to the two or three motors that have been advised on this forum?
Do I need to buy a specific motor mount for the combination CUB+motor or there are standard sizes? How to find them on hobbyking.

Some turnigy motors are called "parkfly" what is the difference between them and the other turnigy motors?

From what I understand more KV= more Speed and less KV with a bigger motor = more torque. But what means a "bigger motor"? more watts? more thrust? bigger size?

Some motors are considerably flatter than others, does this mean that they are less powerful or any other meaning?

I hope that this post will help a lot of newbies like me in choosing their motor.

This is my setup I like it alot. It is fast and fun, much more power.
I fly a ton on floats, so it has plenty of power, I also use a samera on the plane.
I bought everything from www.headsuprc.com, I see you are not in the states, but should be able to find the equivilent at hobby king.
450 Sport (includes 4mm prop adapter)
32A Power Up ESC (I used a spare E-flite 30A I had)
GWS 1060 prop
(2) TP SG90 Servo (standard typical 9g micro servos)
Aluminum Supercub motor mount (they sell this, thrust angle built in, nice and strong and light aluminum)
I use 3S lipos from 1550-2200mah 20-25C
I have a DX7 for all my models.

Shipping is wicked cheap as well from headsuprc. I think like 2.00 and I had everything in a couple of days.

Then I sold all my stock electronics for 60.00, so I pretty much broke even.
I would compare the above items to what hobby king sells to get a equivilent. Obviouly the most important items would be the motor and the ESC.

I'm going with your suggest george. I liked how Headsuprc has all the torq and amp draw info different setups with the motor choices. I had to go another route with the TX DX7 was kinda pushing it with my budget. I'm in the middle of cyclo cross season and next year I'm moving up from doing 6hr endurance mountain bike races to 12hr races. so my budget will be tight for the extra equipment. My small time sponsor are pretty limited in how they help out. LOL

Sorry to rain on your headsupRC parade there boys but our newbie question comes from Germania, and headsupRC don't ship out of the US.

Azertyben, you are correct that the Turnigy 3536c (1100Kv) is an awesome motor for the super cub. It's perhaps a little big for the stockie, but in my opinion if you want to put 2200mah batteries in it then it's perfect. Also, I prefer a slightly overpowered model so that your aircraft is still capable of flying well when the battery gets low.

That same motor is also available for purchase from giantcod.co.uk and plus2city.com
It is branded as an "XYH-3536". Those stores also sell spare parts for the motors (rotor end prop adaptors, spare shafts, circlips) that are either unavailable or overpriced from hobbyking.

Bear in mind that with any of these cheap chinese imports, that motors speed (KV value) may not be what it's supposed to be, so you may end up needing a prop that's bigger or smaller than you planned.


The Turnigy D3536/8 1000KV Brushless Outrunner Motor would be quite good, but you may need an 11 inch prop for it, which in my opinion is a bit big for a super cub. (but that's just my personal taste, each to their own)

The Turnigy D3542/6 1000KV Brushless Outrunner Motor is too big/heavy

The Turnigy Park480 Brushless Outrunner 1320kv looks pretty much perfect, should run well on an 8 - 9 inch prop.

Just remember that you also have to consider how you're going to mount the motor - the customRC motor mounts are pretty much the best.
