As the winter tightens it's noose on the UK, I have finally invested in a flight sim to while away my life whilst not working ( also known as flying time).
As stated I'm using reflex 3d ( bought off ebay with tranny and dongle for 87 quid.) I Used to own realflight 3.5, so with that in mind, thought I'd do a quick comparison.
It's more in mind for the heli pilots than true air-heads ( Physics on the helis seems more true than fixed wing aircraft, which will do outrageous stuff without being destroyed!).
Graphically it's very good, with a similar photo-real setup as realflight. There is a largish amount of downloadable planes and scenery at www.rcsim.de, registration is free, but, not a supercub on site.
Out of 10 I'd say 7. Ok for training, but not that realistic ( Unless you fly helis (Looking at you Paulie! ;D). For fixed wing, realflight is much better. Looks the same, but better physics, and the draw distance means you can still see the plane as a dot, whereas reflex turns the plane invisible at distance.
Cheaper than realflight, designed for rotorheads rather than fixed wing, very simplistic weather system ( wind in beaufort scale and thermals in meters a second - that's it!)
Realflight has more downloadable content, more realistic physics, and a much more intuitive and detailed user interface. It s also very expensive.
Reflex is a great simulator second hand ( I would never pay full price for it), but having tried it, for the price it's great!
