Hi all Im new to the club but been flying the old red cub. I read on one of the forms about removing the jumper to use a lipo batterys. is this a must? because I've been useing a lipo without removing the jumper with no problem

The jumper sets low voltage cut-off. Jumper in = NiMh ~6v Jumper out = lipo ~8.8-8.9v. It essentially won't run on NiMh with this setting as it will LVC immediately. Makes it difficult to use both kinds of batteries safely.
If you fly to LVC with the jumper in you WILL ruin your lipos by over discharge. A 3S lipo should not go below 9.0v under any circumstance, preferably not below ~10v.
BTW, this kind of question is best posted this in the battery section.
PS-if you are using the old stock 10x8 prop you have a high likelihood of burning out your ESC. Prop down to a GWS 10x6.
