Hello I got my SC about a week ago today is the first time it has being calm enough to try my first flight so I hand launched it . it went up ok did a few circles then brought it back down again just to calm my nerves then launched it again and did a few more circles then landed again I was surprised how well if flies and it is easy to land.I was starting to relax a bit now so I launched it again for one last go before I went it was going ok I came out of a turn and was heading back towards me it was about 80-90 ft up then suddenly the nose flicked down and it just dropped nose first to the ground it landed nose in the ground a few inches and tail still pointing up all the front end prop, gear box ,motor broke and the tail was also snapped even though it never hit the floor.I am starting to think the tail might have snapped in the air and this is why it crashed.has any one else snapped the tail in mid air before.

Don't feel bad hunterz, Most of us have had a similar experience at some point. The good news is it won't cost much to repair. supercubclub.proboards78.com/index.cgi?board=crash&action=display&thread=1191199867This happened to me and the repair was about 50.00 and some pride. I've never heard of a tail breaking before impact, but several have had them break as a result. I did have a horizontal stabilizer break during take off in the wind one time that caused some minor damage. Ger her back in the air soon and have some more fun. Jim

I felt the same way my first time out. Didn't do much damage, but had this sick feeling I would never be proficient. Hang in there!
Flew with my skiis in 4 inches of fresh powder snow today. Its a hoot doing takeoffs and landings in the snow.

That first crash is very discouraging especially with that damage.
Did you have ACT on? If so, turn it off. It'll cause you more grief than it will save. Best to just disconnect the wires from the inside and tape them out of the way. The when ACT is on the controls will be a little less sensitive (good for learning).
Everyone crashes. When learning you'll crash a lot. You did WAY better than I did for your first 2 flights. You'll get considerably more knowledgeable with glues and tapes than you ever imagined. While you are gluing things back together take some time to peruse this site and do the proactive reinforcements suggested (battery box, lousy spars, wing saddle, weak tail, etc). No plane is without it's weakness.

the weather was great today the best for weeks blue sky and just a slight breeze fixed the damage from the last flight and went out to see if I was any better at flying today. It did not go that well today took off ok flew around for a few minutes but I could not relax and it never seemed to handle as well today the main thing is it kept going to high and I found it hard to bring it down lower and could not land very well.by the time my nerves had calmed down the wind had picked up so I just had the one small flight today. the crash the other day has made me very nervous to fly now for some reason I hope it goes better next time.

the crash the other day has made me very nervous to fly now for some reason I hope it goes better next time. I promise you will get better everytime you go out to fly. Pretty soon you will want to quit your job so you can fly all the time.
