Iv been useing my old lipos i used in the edf n im geting about 4-4:30mins each lipo but when i land after this time my lipos have swelled a little n become quite warm! Like i say iv used them in my edf n got them hot n puffy :-( so have i messed them up? Then charged my older one right after n it charged n stoped after 42mins...i dont understand what it was doing!! I told you before.... EDF = hell on batteries Now I'm telling you...... Helicopter = more hell on batteries Yes, you got them hot and overdrawn. That's what hot and puffy is telling you. This increases the internal resistance (screws them up chemically-permanently) and lowers their performance. After that it just gets worse as you continue to use them. You can ruin a battery in as little as a single improper use. The only thing those kind of lipos are good for is LOW performance applications, not EDF and Helis. Unfortunately if you are going to play with those kind of toys you are going to have to throw lots of $$$ at HIGH-C rated lipos of GOOD quality. Figuring out WHICH lipos to choose can be a bit of a problem. You can get lots of opinions but little hard data. Since there are so many people with so many different demands and flying styles (as well as knowledge) most of those opinions are kind of useless. Have fun figuring it out. ;D (Hint-you probably won't find it in a Super Cub thread) The charging took a long time because they are trying to balance and having a hard time doing it due to the damage. This is characteristic of batteries going 'over the hill'.

I started out in helis, I have 2 Blade 400s, the old version. It took me a long time to level the swash plate, I see yours seems to be pre-flight tested. I notice that you are hovering in the ground effect area (too close to the ground), this will cause you heli to squirm all over the place. Be brave and bring it up to about chest high, it took me over a year to get enough nerve to turn left and right. Here are my videos, now after a few years, I feel almost comfortable: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ielijNrgWnMAlso, this web site is where I received tons of info about the Blade 400, I'm sure they have the new 450 as well: www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1335273&page=12I see your batteries are heating up, the cheaper ones are not always perfect. I played with the throttle curve for a while, in warm weather, the batts will get warm, DON'T CHARGE THEM WHEN THEY ARE WARM. let them cool down, the ESC will get warm also, takes a while. Enjoy.

Cant' advise you on the particulars of using an "unknown' lipo in a motor I don't know. A good way to approach it is as you describe-fly a few minutes > check it for heat and remaining capacity. 2 things to remember - the marketing on lipos is often garbage. Frankly, I take recommendations from LHS employees/owners with a lot of skepticism unless I've ascertained they know what they are talking about, which is seldom.
The other problem is lipos are often moving targets. Great brand names occasionally end up with a run of clunker lipos. Then a new brand comes out of the blue, is wonderful, and a good bargain. With the internet communication now this causes a stampede to the product, it soon becomes oversold, and out of stock. Then they can't keep up production and quality goes bad. Happens all the time.
Hardly ANY of the various BRANDS make the the cells. The cells are bulk purchased from manufacturers, assembled, and 'stickered/covered'. So it depends on WHERE the cells came from, how well they were matched, and how well assembled.
For instance, people seem to love HK Rhinos (2S/1000mA). I have some that suck. Never been abused, or overdrawn. They balance terribly and go out of whack with little provocation. Other sizes in the same line may be fine.

Not familiar with overlander. If marketing is up to par then 25c is MAX, 20C should actually be max, and you probably shouldn't use them over 15C > 33A.
That motor: Continuous Current: 25A Maximum Burst Current: 32A (15 sec)
Again, if used as 'usual' you are right up that at max rating, meaning close to what the battery is 'maybe' capable of. Now, since it's actually getting hot and puffy it means it was either previously damaged or is not up to the stated specs at all.
You may need to go to the [Extreme] series or another (better) high-C lipo.
In a Cub, it might be a fine lipo. For this application, apparently not.
Once a battery is puffing and hot it is at the beginning of the way out. 140*F is the usual damage point. If you can't hold it in your hand, it's too hot.

Those Turnigy have a pretty good reputation, better than the similar Nanos.
Warm is OK and fairly normal.
