Noob question I am sure, but I didn't see this on any other threads.
I am looking to do the aileron mod and my LHS sold me a couple of servos, but researching here I find that I have some more work to do because I have an lp (fm tx/rx, 5 wire servos, etc)--so going to go ahead with a full conversion while I am at it: brushless, esc, tx/rx...
So question is: Do I need to match the servose I bought from the LHS (e-flight s90s which I found to be pretty expensive at $15 each) or can I get 2 (cheaper, $4-5) from somewhere else like HURC?
Thanks,

You should have no problem with using different servos. If you are using a 2 servo aileron, then they should be matching. So you can use the s90's on aileron and the cheaper ones on ele and rudd.
To be honest, your LHS should know that the 3 wire servos would not be compatible, unless they didn't know what they were for.

You have a different problem if you are using 4 servos (cheap ones from HeadsUp or Hobby King) + Spektrum. Cheap servos pull more power, demand more of the BEC in your ESC (which folks also tend to go cheap on) and can lead to "Brown Out". Search the forum, it has been discussed at length.

Listen to Fly. I kind of forgot about the ''brown out '' problems as I'm still using 35 megs. I use six HXT9g cheap servos in my Funcub and never get a glitch. Even if I did, I would rather a glitch than a system reboot.

You can get hs-81's pretty cheap now a day too. They are perfect for the 2 tail servos. I use them in both of my cubs and have since the intro of the SC. No issues ever.

Not sure what you mean by matching them. If you mean using 2 of the same kind then yes. Indeed use 2 of the same kind in the wings. However in the tail you could use 2 different servos which might be different from your wng servos all together.

Thanks guys, that is what I needed.
Yeah, my LHS is nice and friendly--but seems to be lacking in knowledge at times.
Fly, I do intend to install a U-bec from reading the other threads. Thanks for the info
