Sorry if this has been answered before but I did do a search for the word differential and nothing came up I also checked each thread title in the ailerons thread for the word differential and again zip!
I therefore thought it might be helpful for anyone looking for an answer to this to have a thread called aileron differential.
So my question is.....
Is there a standard percentage difference that one aileron should move in relation to a lower percentage the other aileron should move.
I am aware the aileron moving up should move further than the one down and have read quite abit of info across the cybernet about how it works, but I only found one entry that said it should be a difference of 2 to 1
Any input would be gratefully received.
Thanks, John

Hi John, I can only comment on the models that I have built and each one is different. IMHO I think its is dependent on the design of the aircraft. I have no differential on my Supercub LP aieleron mod, and it flys great and turns without any problem. On another plane( Multiplex Fun Cub ) I rushed the build and skipped over setting up the differential called for in the manual. I could not figure out why it flew so bad entering a turn. By chance I came across an article on the web about differential and I went back and found what I missed in the book. I set it up per the instructions and it was amazing the difference.( On my dx6i I also mixed in a little rudder which also improves turns incredibly). I would tend to believe that factors such as wing shape, amount of diehedral, wing loading and aielron size would all be factors in the amount of differential required(if any). If we are lucky we may get an aeronautical engineer to chime in and answer your question with facts.

Thanks for the input ifly appreciated.
Out of interest what is the recommendation for the MPX Fun Cub?
I think I'll start with a differential of 66% movement down to 100% up.

Hi John, the fun cub should be set with 22mm up and 12mm down. I set mine to 22up and 11 down and it enters turns great!!! Do the math and you see that the down aielron is only 50% of the up. If you start off with 66% you should be fine. Let me know how it works out for you!!
