Well I was out with my old man flying my cub tonight on the river with floats. I have done this many many times. Well tonight I threw my fathers wing on from his cub onto mine. (mine has ailerons, and he like the 3-channel) mine is the only one with floats. No biggie I switched wings. Well we flew about 3 batteries. The next battery I flew and was going great as usual. I went high and did a dive planning to pull up before the water. Done it many times. Well this time I went on the way down the wing literally folded up some, and got pushed back. I pulled back to fome out of the dive. It did not come out. I hit the water at full speed with my brushless setup, so I would say maybe 50mph or so due to being in a dive. Guessing on speed but I was MOVIN! LOL
I hit the water like a hawk at a full speed dive going in for a fish. As bad as it was it was AWESOME! I wish I would have got it on video. Luckily a kid on the beach swam out and go it for me. I was worried everything was junk now.
Well got it home all apart. Rx, seems fine, motor fine, servo's fine, battery fine. ESC junk. Broken prop. That is all the carnage. What saved all of the electronics is being mounted towards the rear in the plane. The ESC was in the cowl so it was fully submerged.
I took motor apart and blew it out and dryed it out and everythign else out to be safe. She is all back together and ready to go again, but going to be cautious for the next couple times out. I WON'T BE OVER WATER LOL
I defintley need to reinforce that wing though. what is the best and easiest way to do that?
Thanks
George
