The battery box is the weak spot of the super cub. However, I believe I have found the easiest, cheapest (free) way to correct the "sagging" battery box issue. Most of us have encountered this problem (unless you have landed picture perfect every time) and its tough to fix. Mine had become very loose and I began to worry about it in the air. I have gobs and gobs of 5 min epoxy on it, but it just couldn't hold it. The epoxy couldn't hold because it didn't let the battery box "bounce" a little on the rough landings...thus snapping the joint. While going to pick up my SC that I landed in the field, I thought about how I could fix this problem. Then, the light bulb went off. Use gravity! Behold, the cure to all battery box issues: This next one shows that the wing attachment bands still have plenty of room: My baby. Du-Bro 2.5's on the front. 1.23" on the back. Spitfire prop for the cool yellow bit. Let me know if you have questions. -Finch

After a few flights, have you found that you needed to reinforce the wing saddle near the top of the cockpit? I can see those rubberbands sawing into the saddle fairly easily.

I am not sure what you mean. The rubber bands to cause a bit of an indentation in the fuse where the bend over it. If it gets worse I will but some clear tape down, or, a small transition of epoxy. Should work good.
Haven't flown since this mod though...work yesterday, windy (and no time) today...maybe tomorrow.

I have flown it one time since the mod. My TX batteries died and I haven't had time to pick up 8AAs (the loud obnoxious continual beeping form the TX means its time for new batteries, right?) and on top of that I have had some pretty stormy conditions. The one flight I had (about 4 landings) it has held up fine, and so has the fuse. Although, I am going to put some epoxy were the bands go over the fuse for some added insurance.

Hi Finch Correct on the beeping.
About them bands. If you land hard enough to break the glue seal on the battery box, what are the bands going to do, apart from letting your box end up on the floor.

Well, if its a hard landing, the bands will actually loosen up, allowing the foam to cushion the battery box. Then once the battery box rebounds, the rubber bands catch it. The epoxy was almost to rigid, not allowing the battery box to absorb the shock of the gears touching down.
