Hi Y'all
I'm wondering if I can call on your collective experience with adding ailerons to the Super Cub. I've put a lot of thought and done much research on what I'm planning on doing and I'm hoping that you folks can tell me if I'm on the right track or not... So here goes..........
I'm starting with a stock (except the landing gear), red (NiMh powered) Hobbyzone Super Cub
I'm going to cut 12" by 1.75" ailerons starting just inboard of the curve of the wing tip. This should give me over 4" of space left for when I install single servo flaps.
My plan is to model my hinges after those on my Parkzone P-47, using hinge tape. My first question is do I have to do anything to the foam surface to prep it for the tape and do I have to put anything over the tape to make sure that it stays attached? I also have some small Du-Bro nylon hinges that I was thinking of putting under the hinge tape. Is this needed? What would you recommend for control horns and where on the aileron should they be mounted?
As for servos, I'm going back and forth between two servos from Hobbyking.com
www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idproduct=662
or
www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idproduct=11856
If you could give me some advice, that would be great. Whichever I pick, that's what I'm going to use for all the control surfaces.
I'm going to use an OrangeRx Spektrum DSM2 reciever

I'm planning on keeping the stock brushed 480 motor and using a 20 amp brushed (Lipo compatible) speed control
www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idproduct=9090
Will a 20 amp ESC be enough or should I go with 30 amp?
And finally to power the setup I'm going to use a 1300mah 11.1v 3s Lipo
www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idproduct=16771
I've has good luck so far with Hobbyking's Lipos.
So any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Matt
