My sky fly 2 was 35ft up in a tree when I knocked it out. It landed on the fuselage and snapped it at the base where the plastic fuselage and the hallow wooden fuselage meet. The fuselage is about 8mm in diameter. I am open to ideas about how to repair it. There is a piece of wood about 5 inches longinside the fuselage now. It is holding it together but isn't stiff enough to keep the fuselage from tilting towards the ground. Thanks for any ideas.

If it busted right where the boom meets the fuse that can be hard to fix. The Aerobird series (from Horizon-same as the Cub) did have a fiberglass splint you could epoxy over a break. That series tended to break where the control lines came out a hole in the boom near the tail. Check a hobby shop for that part.
If that doesn't work try getting an arrow shaft or hardwood dowel to fit. Soft wood won't cut it.
I'm assuming the SF2 does NOT have controls running through the boom like the Aerobird does. I got tired of my fishing line control lines and replaced them with an external Dubro control system.
You could also make some thin aluminum splints to bridge the break. Drill small holes and screw the front part into the fuse body. Then wrap the back part with strong thread and hit it with CA.
You got to line things up REALLY WELL or it'll fly like crap.

Thanks, I think that I will try a hardwood dowel, though it might not work because my skyfly 2 has metal pushrods for the control surfaces going through the boom. I will try anyways. The thin aluminum splints might work too, although the balsa splints I made originally were not small enough to clear the prop. My dad is in the process of signing me up on photobucket and then I will post some pics for you. Thanks, Stuntboy

Thanks for the idea to put a dowel rod in the boom. It feels stronger than when it was stock. I fixed the problem of having the control rods running in the boom by drilling two holes in the back of the fuselage to run the control rods out of. I then used tape to hold the rods clear of the prop. I got a chance to fly it today and it flew beautifully(except when my wing bent). I managed to land it and it makes me so glad to have something to do again. Thanks, Stuntkid

For a bent wing (problem on those planes): Get some bamboo BBQ skewers. Carbon works too but is more expensive. - cut a groove in the bottom across the bent/broken area the size & depth needed. - do BOTH sides the same to balance the wing. - gorilla/epoxy glue the skewer in place. - cover with (colored) tape if you think it looks too ugly.
I've got 1 Aerobird wing that must have 10-12 chunks of bamboo in it. It's kind of heavy but sure is sturdy now.

hey i broke mine in half what is the best to fix it with and also all the electronics are well so if i was to get a new fuselage do i just need the plane old one the bear one and then put the stuff in myself or just get one with it all inside it then it will just be ready to fly right ? i have the same transmitter that came with it and that seems to work with any plane same as me

If u have the guts out ur broken one buy a bare fuse n fit what u need to...or glue it back together? If uv snaped ur wing like mine...glue it! Epoxy glue

Now you ask it again in this separate thread, which anyway is about Skyfly 2. Gets kinda confusing when people do that! Much easier for everyone if you keep it all in one place.
