Drove down to the hobby store to buy some new rubber bands and wing struts today, ended up having to buy a wing instead (Spare parts ) Came home and made the repairs. Little pre-flight check and in the sky she goes. Made one pass around the neighborhood and the clouds decided it was time to unload with pouring rain and wind. So heres the cub fighting with everything shes got to gain ground into the wind to make it home. Nope, not today. flying backwards and away. I tried to get more altitude so I could ride out the wind gust but it was very consistant 20+ mph. I ended up running in the rain fighting to keep it steady until I got a clear view of where I was going to put it down in any way shape or form. Nope, not happening. I was about to lose sight of it from the nearby houses. Altitude was 60 feet or so and max 1/4 mile out from me I knew there was about 20 acres of field out there with a few trees and a boat load of blackberry bushes. So I cut the throttle and took it straight down. Lost sight. By that time I was rain soaked and started walking. three hours later it got dark and I called it off. It's gone.

Loved the story, but that really sucks losing the plane. Scott

Dang that sticks man! I bought this gismo that I have not used but tested and it works well. It is a alarm that plugs into your rx. When your rx looses communication with your tx it starts making a shrill that makes your hair stand up then curl and straighten out again. If you simply shut your radio off it will do that right away. I got it off ebay and it was right around 10 bucks. Might check into something like it for the next time. Kevin

This lost plane alarm plugs in between the receiver and one servo (apparently a standard 3-wire servo). Does anyone know how to rewire it to work with HobbyZone 5-wire servos?

Cool deal, I'll look into that alarm. the LHS should have the Typhoon 2's in next week so I might end up grabbing one of those. I still have a soft spot for the SC so I'll have to get another one in the future.
