Hi
I just finished building my cub from parts, my setup are
eflite 480 1020kv brushless eflite 40A Pro ESC TP 2250mAh 40C Lipo
what will be the best prop for my setup? I only like relaxing scale flying and not for uncontrollable speed racing for NOW. ;D

I used a GWS 10x6 with the same motor. PLENTY of power. I recommend something more tame for relaxing flying.

Try a GWS 8x4. Should fly fine but not be a rocket.

Hi I currently installed a GWS 9x6 SF on it. But I still dont fly it, im having second thoughts coz ive read in other forums that an SF propeller has tendencies to break-off when installed in a motor running beyond 7000 rpm. if installed with a 8x4 dont you think it will be under powered?

I think you won't know unless you try it. I put one on a slightly higher KV motor of the same general power range for a MiniMag (about the same size as the Cub) I sold to a buddy. He's been flying a Super Cub for a couple years. He couldn't keep up with it first flight and is still having problems with the speed. Power wouldn't seem to be an issue, except for maybe too much. You have a lower KV so it'll be less than that. How much-you need a wattmeter and a field test to tell. FWIW GWS-SF props are pretty close to worthless unless you have a VERY low KV slow speed application. I don't know what you have but it's not a GWS-SF at 9x6-there is no such thing. www.gwsus.com/english/product/propeller/propeller.htmThe naming system for GWS (anything) is pretty awful and almost no one uses it, except them.

Ihave the same issue at the moment, i have a parkzone 480bl 960kv brushless and a eflite 35amp esc, on a 9x6 prop i pulling 15amps, 10x6 prop 18amps, im going to try 10x5 or a 10x4 prop to slow the model down, pulling to many amps is not my problem its having a model i can control , i just got a amp meter and it does help to to pick the correct prop but it a bit of a trial and error, i will be trying some 2200 lipos soon when i get the new props as well as finding out the flight times. my flight times on a 9x6
1300 lipo divide by 1000 divide by amps 15 example x 60 mins = 5.2 min at full throtle so on half throtle about 10 min which is about normal for 1300 lipos but you will have longer with the2200 lipos. Dave

OK, so I have a newbie question. Whats the big deal about a prop that has too much power? Cant you just throttle down to a more manageable speed?
