Finally got some good air time. Third try was a charm. Less wind, turned off the ACT, two good long flights, one 8 cell, one 7 cell. Landed in tall grass, no damage. 8 cell is way better than 7 cell flying, even in mild wind. Even managed a dead stick landing when the first battery died. Wind started picking up, so I let the kids do some ground taxiing until the battery was dead. Whew, that is a relief. With enough altitude, even when I made the wrong control input I could fix it. Thanks for the tips.

yep altitude is your friend. dead stick landings are kind of fun once you get the hang of it. use something as a target and see how close you can get.

I seem to be dead stick landing all the time because I want to use up every bit of my battery. Unfortunately, I am usually headed downwind when the prop stops spinning which complicates the landing.

Yeah I guess I got lucky that the plane was headed back toward me.
