So, I'm charging a LiPo for the first time, just sitting at my computer and decide I want a pot pie. No problem, the freezer and microwave are near where I'm charging (not real close, but same room) so I throw it in the microwave and sit back down at the PC and continued to read about LiPo safety and I'm watching videos of LiPo fires. A few minutes later I hear POP from behind me and fear the worst, an exploding LiPo. No, dummy, it's the pot pie in the microwave. Sheesh.

lol Been there before.
I've got a LiPo fire story...
I have always heard of these things catching fire, but I always thought it would never happen to me. I use a good charger and take care of my batteries. Just in case, I always keep them in an ammo can away from anything that might catch fire.
Back in January I was at a local park driving my crawler around. I put the battery back on the charger and a couple guys came up to ask me about it. It eventually got done charging so I told them they could drive. I flipped on the TX, connected the battery, hit the power switch, and the servos started going nuts. Throttle input did nothing. Then came the smoke.
It wasn't on fire yet, so I quickly pulled the body, disconnected the battery and tossed it grenade-style away from everybody. And then we had a good laugh.
The Novak ESC had a meltdown and caused it. The battery still holds a charge and has similar cell voltages, but it's puffed up a good bit. Not worth using.

That is pretty funny. Sucks to see an ESC melt down, but I can picture chucking the LiPo and watching expectantly for an explosion that never happens. I thankfully charged my batteries without incident, then bound my new TX/RX and tested my motor and a servo. Making progress in my brushless upgrade. The big obstacle now is the motor mount. It's coming together though.
