I just bought a Detrum Supermate DC6, which does not include a wall adapter. I was wondering if I could use an AC adapter from an external HDD with it. The DC6 says "input DC11V-18V" on the front and "AC INPUT 100-240V, 50/60Hz, 1.5A" on the back. The AC adapter has an output of 12V, 2A. Are these gonna work together?

Nevermind, it's working great.

At 2A you are only going to be able to charge small batteries or larger batteries...s l o w l y.
You'll max out somewhere around an 1800 @ 1C with electrical losses. Try higher and it'll either not go or the adapter will ultimately croak. The charger would like to see 5A.
I use a 3.5A power supply all the time but I only do 1000-2000 lipos with it.

Well, it let me charge my 2200 MAh battery at 2.2A and only got warm (the adapter, nothing else was remotely warm). I'll keep using it until it croaks as it doesn't belong to anything, but if I see a suitable replacement I'll pick it up. Thanks for the reply.
Oh, BTW, the DC6 is great. Very intuitive.

Yep, gonna fry it, yep. Start looking. FWIW a good option is modding a PC power supply. Just do a Google search and you'll turn up a lot of hits including youtube videos.
