I have to repair the foam on the front after my firewall and gearbox smashed through it in a nose first crash. What is the best way to fill in all the holes and provide a nice smooth surface for the new firewall I ordered?

I've been using Gorilla glue mixed with Elmer's white glue lately (4 parts Gorilla to 1 part Elmer's). It sticks everything back together once it drys (you have to use tape to hold parts together for about 2 hours) and it expands to fill gaps. Once it has cured for about 24 hours, you then can trim back any excess foam and sand any area which need to be leveled out.

how easy is it to work with once it has cured? I have some big holes in the front where the firewall was. Also if i out enough in the hole to fill it will that be way too much? I heard it expands a lot.
