So I decided to try the $30 CVS one-time video camera to take some aerial video. I used rubber bands to mount the camera below the belly in what I thought was a fairly CG friendly spot. I took off and did a climb out and all was well until i was flying at tree top level. The sun was facing me and I couldn't tell how the aircraft was oriented and then it started to get dangerously wing high. Meanwhile ACT was active (though I had planned on turning it off since the lower sensor was covered by the camera and I just forgot). I saw the plane start to enter a spiral and then ACT kicked in and made it much worse before I could react, I had gone from about 200' AGL straight down in an extremely fast spin. The stress was so great on the airframe it bent the wing, but the wing didn't break....primarily due to the transparent duct tape reinforcement I used on the wing. The motor is probably shot, It was smoking when I got over to the aircraft...don't know yet about the gearbox. The firewall and motor mount are toast. The fuselage has cracks and is a bit warped in some areas. Should I get a new fuselage? I think i'm going to put a wing spar in to repair the wing and make her a little more acrobatic. Oh yeah the worst part....the camera reset itself and wiped out my 10 seconds of good footage and my death spin Where are some good parts suppliers?

Hey there! Welcome to the forums. Sorry to hear about the close encounter with the ground but it happens ehh? 1st thing I would suggest is unplugging the ACT sensors from the receiver all together. Just look for a thread on here called "ACT" and you can read all about the reasons why.. Anyways - As I am sure you know these birds are very easily fixed up and put back in the air. Doesnt look like hardly ANY damage to the fuse other than up front which you can fix with some 5minute epoxy or foam safe CA .... Anyways...
Let us know if there is anything you need help with!

I've been disassembling the nose and it's not too bad, but i'm unsure about the motor....it works....but it was smoking when i got to the plane....I'n my haste to rush to my baby...i forgot to kill the throttle...oops. Also, should i just plan on getting another prop shaft?
So far I need:
Cowl Firewall Prop Shaft (maybe) Motor (maybe)
Any thoughts on upgrades and such while I have to rebuild the nose?

for replacement parts no one beats the prices at my rc supply and the sevice is outstanding. you will save alot of $$ shopping there. especially in the future if you decide to upgrade your cub or move up in planes. an example of their pricing is you can buy a SUPER CUB from them for $115.68 . that is $ 45.00 less than the other places
