I couldn't believe there's a real plane which ours was modelled off.
I want to buy it :-)
I'm wondering if he knows we are all flying his plane's miniature, did HZ give him some cash to copy his plane?

He is a member of a Piper PA-18 club and I am sure that when the designers were looking for a reference plane to take measurments and photos his club was found on the net and he voulentered. Its an honor to have your plane, boat, car or what ever replicated. I'm sure he got a few models for free and gets bragging rights.

www.faa.gov/licenses_certificates/aircraft_certification/aircraft_registry/n_numbers/ gives you the list of current registration numbers in the US, available numbers, and other info. For example, I have renumbered my SC to N212XQ. As of this post, there is no aircraft out there registered with that number. Lots of fun. Strangely, it's just like real life for me... I'm currently renumbering one of my customer's planes. Our SC's have lots of features based on the real plane, and for the same reasons. The cowl is opened up to allow cooling air to keep that geared 480 running strong.

Here's a link to a HUGE web site full of pics taken by an Alaskan wildlife photographer/bush pilot, in and around and from his Super Cub. Pay particular attention to where he's landed... shaunlunt.typepad.com/shootings/Be patient... it takes a very very long time to load, even with DSL and the like.

Be patient... it takes a very very long time to load, even with DSL and the like. Thanks for sharing that - what a joy to see all the Cubs!

The whole time I was looking at the planes, I couldn't help but see "wheels mod and a drop module". Scott
