after saving since august and getting good ideas rammed into my head (Li-po good! NI-MH bad!), my conversion is finally going. my dad's making the order later tonight for the first batch of parts. all of them are from heads up R/C - power up 480 plus motor - 40 amp power up ESC - EMAX metal geared servos (2 for rud/elev) - APC 10/7 props - extra shaft for motor. if i have a spare, i never break the original... the batteries are coming in the next order (Soon!). i was planning on using this www.headsuprc.com/servlet/the-1682/11.1v-2200mah-25C-EZ/Detailand this charger www.headsuprc.com/servlet/the-1656/Emax-EC-dsh-0856-Balance-Charger/Detailwill they work together? they should... any advice is good.

Everything looks good to me. You might want to throw in a 10x6 prop. I prefer MAS props since I feel I get better pull from them. Does your ESC hav a BEC? If not you will need one of them. The battery is perfect in my opinion. I am running a Zippy with the same stats and love it.

That's a heavy combination. You might want to use a smaller battery. Do you have room for the one listed?

The battery is heavier than stock, but with the brushless upgrade the weight is not an issue. Going with the 2200mha 25c is one of the more popular battery upgrades I have seen and always with great reviews including my own experience

Bizzare, as my zippy 2200 20c seems to be infinitely better than my Thunderpower and flightpower Evos, even they're rated 25-35c, and burst up to 50c! Guess the flightmax just works better!

i couldn't afford the BEC. my dad would only order the stuff if i flashed $90 in cash to him, and i was streaching it when i asked if he could pay all $5 dollars in shipping. the BEC is coming in the next order, because $15 is really good insurance against crashing a $300 (when everything is done) airplane i was ordering off of heads up because shippings insanly fast and cheap, and all their components are pretty inexpensive. $20 per battery isn't bad, and if they last 100 cycles, i'll be happy. one summer should get me up to that, so i'll see how they are. their customer service is top notch. they even mailed me a little box to mail their components back in. it's nice of them. they'll be arriving here tomorrow. it still won't fly, unless the brick pack can do it. i don't think it can, though. i was looking at a smaller battery, gohmer, but the flight time would only be like 6-8 minutes, and i want to fly for 10-12 at least. it's also reccomended for the motor.

all the parts arrived today. the motor went in smoothly and works perfectly, and i only needed to take the angled black thing from the super cub mount, add two pieces of 3/16 inch plywood, and it works. my ailerons, elevator, and rudder all work, but it's still incapable of flight becaus the brick pack hits max power at about 40% throttle and than stuggles. some people could squeeze the ESC into the cowling, but mine couldn't fit, so I cut a groove between the battery box and the cowl about 1/2 inch deep and hot-glued the ESC into it. it looks nice, and as an added bonus, the ESC's giant heatsync is directly in the propwash of the plane, so it's nice and cool. pics tommorow

15? You gotta change your facebook profile pic to something more recent man, you look way younger than that! I just had another look at ur profile and you look a lot older in one of your rocket pics. BTW, did you tell your sister I thought she was cute?

my profile pic hasn't changed since i got my facebook page. which was two or three years ago. yes, i told her. she saw the thread thingy.
my batteries came in (two buisness days! woo!), and my cub will literally pull out of my hand while i'm holding it vertically, so i think it's got some power. the charger takes one or two hours to charge a single lipo, though. i'll take it out soon. will a motor mount made from the base of the old one with two wood spacers hold in the long term? it seems sturdy, but it wiggles a little bit from side to side, no matter what (1/2 mm). should i pick up a premade motor mount soon?
