When I first got my Cub I taped the wings and part of the fuselage with reinforced tape, sure its saved loads of damage, but now I fancy a paint job.
Will I have to peel off the tape which may damage the wings or is there a sealant or paint that will stick to the foam and the taped parts.
Anyone tried this?

The paint will flake of the paint, if untreated. I peeled packing tape off my fuse with no real adverse effects. If anything, it removes the smooth surface and probably promotes adhesion of the paint.
I have heard some talk of paint adhesion promoters. I am interested in trying them. Where are they found?

if its just packing tape, i would have thought you could probably sponge it with warm soapy water to help soften the tape adhesive so it doesn't do as much damage when you pull it off. It generally works on walls!
If you decide to leave it on I would suggest sanding the tape lightly just to key up any sheen the surface may have, in order that the paint doesn't flake so easily from it.
Just a thought, John

I thought along the lines of sanding down, painting and if neccessary retaping with clear tape. I think I'll try to remove some of it first and see how it goes, thanks guys.

Bulldog adhesion promoter (used on all sorts of automotive plastics...) should work, but I've never tried it on foam so I don't know if it would damage it... I suspect that it would be fine since the urethane front bumpers that you use the stuff on all the time seem to react to the same things that most foams do.
