So....on the snowiest day I could find when I've finished work, I decided that it was a good day to take out the SC .(I haven't flown in over a week!) 4 full lipos, charged TX, empty flying site, and the most boring day ever.
First flight...Fighting through 1-2 ft of snow to the leeward side of some portakabins, so I could set up. Everything working and ... very underpowered launch? ........ No control on ailerons, elevator not moving much....
End up nosing in (Thank you snow!) No damage.
Check reveals wires from wing servos fouling on rudder and elevator servos. All wires moved, and re-launch.
Plenty of movement on ailerons, no control on elevator! Cut power and gentle glide-in. Grrr!
Find out that elevator clevis is snapped, and no spares. GRRRR!
Use duct tape to fix, as the spares are 2 miles away at home!
Finally, a proper (underpowered) and boring flight!
All flight sufaces working, get to about 50 ft, and the motor went dead! Glide in......
After checking, I'd burnt out the stock motor ( I should mention that the power department has been lacking in recent weeks, and laziness is my only excuse for not checking further than changing props)
Now swapped in a new motor ( I still have 2), and it's like a new plane! With the stock prop, I get 108 watts, but I'm now using a 10x4.7ep with 94 watts because A) hope it will last longer. B) It still wants to tear out of my hand when testing and C) it's bright orange, so at a distance, I can see if it's moving or not.
The video is of the 3rd flight, and it is boring, but it's important in that I've made sure everything works, and something else comes up. My only regret, is that it happened at 50 ft, instead of 400 (At least I could have had a decent flight!) Sorry the film is so Kak!
