I moved too quickly from my cub to a Parkzone spit and the result is one very dead warbird (fuselage completely shattered from the thingypit forward. Somehow the wing survived in one piece and I am wondering about mating the intact Spitfire wing to the Cub fuselage and tail to give me a high wing aileron trainer and leaving the rudder disconnected.
Any thoughts or words of advice on this -- I know CoG / CoL will be an issue but I don't think the mounting will be too bad. Wing areas look about the same, or maybe slightly larger for the Spit
Tom
EDIT -- I thought I couldn't type until I realised the anti-porn filter changed the word c.o.c.k.pit above

Man thats hilarious! I was reading it and thought......this guy is scared of the word cock or didn't know what the heck it was really called. ROFL
Go for it man. Try the wing idea and report your findings back here. Of course there will be no dihedral in the wing so it will need some speed to get up and of course some up elevator. I have pondered this same thing but deemed it worthless but now I am rethinking it. Hmmmm this could get interesting. I happen to have a crashed wing here I could fix up to put on a crashed fuse.

This could start a whole new thread of seeing what words the thought police have allowed us to use / not use!
I forgot the dihedral -- about 5 degrees on the cub? There is a fair amount of flex in the Spit wing so I could probably run a line from tip to tip and tauten it to give a bit of a bend

Thats funny.. My buddy maidened his electric glider and two minutes later struck a tree due to a gust of wind on landing.
I ran over and stole his 6+ foot wing and put it on my cub. It looked funny as all get out but it lifted off at 5mph and flew very nicely at 1/4 throttle.

I don't think it will fly well at all, if at all. It will have to be flown fast if it got up plus the elipical wing will stall at the tip first if you are not carfull landing. Not good for your cub. Hang on to it until your skills have progressed and buy a new fuse later. I think they are about 20 bucks. The Cub will spoil you by flying slow and the biggest mistake I have seen made when going to a warbird is they try to fly it like the cub. The cub floats, the spit needs air speed all the time or it will stall and drop a wing. The cub will land on its own if you keep lowering the throttle and flying, the spit has to be flown in at medium speed and you start to slow down when close to the ground and kill the engine before touchdown.
