Quick, can you use NIMH in the SC LP? I just had a SC LP fall in my lap with stock radio gear. NO LP batteries and really dont want to spend the money for battery and chargers until I know she flies. I already have 7 and 8 cell NIMH packs and quality charger.

Hell yes! The stock SC flies on NimH batteries! On the RX there's a little jumper (little black thing between two metal posts). Move this to the other two metal jumpers. ( this only reduces the cut off voltage). Plug in your NimH battery, fly happily! Less flying time, same plane! It flies, you're happy, what else matters?

There may not be a jumper. You may not need it. Try a 7-cell NiMh pattery.

I can't remember which one is the one that works with the jumper off, the 7 or 8 cell... or are they 8 and 9 cell? OMG that was so long ago... sorry.

Look next to where the servo plugs are, and yes the jumpers are the same.

everything is unhooked from the reciever. servos plug in to the end. theres an input for the lipo charger dead center. the ACT plugs are in a recess oval correct? Is that where the jumper should be?

top two jumpers ( next to the top of the RX) are for lipos. bottom are for NimH. Top jumpers cut out at 11.3v (i think. 3.1 v per cell). NimhI think cut off at 2 v per cell ( or less). If you can't see jumpers on your RX, can you send pix? I only know the stock SC, but some of the others might know what the problem is?

Bottom two jumpers ( set of 4, bottom of the oval) Changes the Voltage to Nihm. Plug in the NimH, if the motor starts, and pulls while holding, you're all set to go. If I'm wrong, move the jumper to the next 2 ( This plane is idiot proof, do some thing stupid, and it WILL teach you. It will not burn up and die, unless you reverse the polartity, by which I mean out black to red and red to black) I'm here at the Mo, so no hurry......

I know this is an old thread, but . . . .
I have the red nicd SC. The 4 in-line jumpers are for the ACT. The two that stand above the others (top right in this photo) are the battery type jumpers. Install jumper for nicd, remove for lipo.
Hope this helps someone.
