I just purchased my first Cub (first airplane) yesterday and the weather gods have not been in my favor at all today. For the past two weeks our weather has been pristine with very light wind. Today we have a front coming through with gusts to 25mph. Long range dosen't look good either. So I spent the morning scouting out the area for some good fields to fly in. I think I may have found one about a mile up the road. Anyways, I'm new to this RC hobby so I thought I give it a try by purchasing the SC. The staff at the hobby shop highly recommended it for first time fliers. Though it hasn't left the ground yet, my boys and I love it.

#1. Welcome! You made a great choice. #2. Sorry about the weather. Get a feel for the Super Cub by looking at some of the videos on youtube. Look for "aileron mod" by NE Flyer.

Great web site with lots of useful info. This looks like it's going to be a very addicting hobby. Looks like the winds are suppose to calm down tomorrow. So, we'll see. I'll be ready to face any kind of catastrophe it may face ;^) Must be optimistic

Two tips - make sure you go somewhere very wide open, so that you have time to make turns, climb, etc.... and go high. Go 200 feet high until you get used to flying. When the time comes to land, just aim for a clear area, and don't dive to land, as that will cause you to go faster, which will cause more damage if you have a bad landing. If you can land in grass, you will probably not damage your plane if you can land with little power and anywhere near horizontal.
It will make the difference between 1 or 2 crashes in 6 flights, rather than 5 crashes in 6 flights. Good luck!
