This is from another forum I frequent, so I can't take the credit. Ask her to name 1 aircraft from WWII and post her answer here. Any one aircraft from WWII would be fine. If a significant portion don't reply B52, it'll be surprising. On my other forum (gun forum - AR15.com) the responses were better than 1/3 "B52" There was also the one wife who responded "This for that F'ing forum of yours, isn't it?" My wife came through with "B52?"

I couldn't leqve this one alone. My wife's first four aircraft named in order were: Mosquito, Mustang, Corsair, and B25. In all fairness, her next two were the Fokker with three wings (her words) and B52. The biggest surprise was she knew the Black Widow (P-61).
She can't help but pick stuff up. I'm a history major and spent years running various flightlines during airshows/open houses. We also lived in the capital of WWII aircraft, the United Kingdom, for three years.

My wife is the wife of a museum director for a military museum so I got her trained pretty good.
She rattled off in a few seconds: B25, P51, Japanese Zero, Messerschmitt and B17. Took a breath and then asked me if she should continue. I told her no that was fine.
She has also helped me to restore a B52. I think I will keep her.

Hey, never mind all those Fokkes (not 'Fockers', stillbents . . . , how come none of you Americans (or your wives) has mentioned those two magnificent British fighters, the Spitfire and the Hurricane? They won immortality by defeating the Luftwaffe during the Battle of Britain when we stood alone in 1940, before giving sterling service throughout the war in many countries. Even the USAAF flew Spitfires (4th Fighter Squadron). I urge any younger members who are unfamiliar with the legendary Spitfire to look it up on the net and see what a beautiful aircraft it was. As Dave says above: "the United Kingdom, the capital of WWII aircraft . . . " (OK, I admit that you built some pretty impressive planes over there, too . . . ;D)

I was surprised she didn't say those aircraft first actually. She's seen the "Vintage Pair" and the Lancaster in person several times. She's not a jet person in any sense. Her first airshow was at RAF base that was closing - RAF Gaydon. She'd never seen anything like it and absolutely loved the Spitfires (2), the Hurricane, and the Me108.
We lived three years in Fringford, Oxfordshire, while I was the enlisted man in charge of squadron ops at RAF Upper Heyford. At the time, the base was in it's third year with F-111E Aardvarks.
