;D ;D ;D Looking forward to this one!! Another quick build foamie - this time an A-10 Warthog. Wanted one for ages, can't afford the EDF version, so it's down to homemade again! 1700 kv Brushless pusher, 6x4 prop with 1500mah 3s for power. Pictured mid- build (about 3 hours work so far.) Totally built with hot glue. Weight so far 3.5 oz. Expected AUW 12-14 oz. Throttle/ elevator/ flapperons. Plans and build log here: www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=438589&page=9

I've had my eye on these exact plans for a few months now. I'd love to follow your build and see how it performs. Keep the pics coming.

Now finished! 14 oz AUW. Leaving it unpainted until I know it flies. Dummy engines made from toilet roll holders (I know! But its the only thing I could find.) I'll try and test fly tomorrow, but the weather report ain't so good, and I've got a meeting in the afternoon to find out if I'm being made redundant, so fingers crossed for both!

Bah!! Followed the plan, got everything right, nice day, not windy, took it out to maiden........it flew like a brick! Balanced it out on the plans CG, and it was very nose heavy! No damage, so moved the battery back a little, full throttle, gentle launch......it flew like a slightly lighter brick! No damage, Still nose heavy. Moved the battery further back, throttle, launch.... now tail heavy, and nearly uncontrolable.Up, down, left, right... nightmare! Got back to terra-very-firma. Cracked fuz, and broken wing. However, now fixed, and CG now correct (2cm further back than on plans) So I'll try again tomorrow!

sounds like you need more speed?

3s lipo+ 1700 kv with a 6x4 at full welly! It was pulling out of my hand. Speed wasn't the issue. At first launch, which was a proper throw, It rose slightly, and descended rapidly ( bit like a javelin), no matter how much up I was using. The fact it actually flew (albeit badly), when I moved the battery rearwards definately points the finger at the CG. Hopefully find out tomoz. Hope it works, cos it looked brilliant for the 30 odd seconds it was up!

Leave it a little nose heavy until you've flown it many times. Slowly move the CG back to neutral or slightly nose heavy. Personally, I'd have gone with a ~15-amp 2000-3000 kv motor for this model. The A10 has a tendency to NEED speed or it falls out of the sky like a brick. That may not be the case here but I wouldn't take any chances. Also, this model usually doesn't glide well; it takes some power during landing approaches.

Changed the motor out for a 3000kv blue wonder. It's quite windy this morning (6.30 am), but I'm hoping its going to calm down later on.

Oh yeah baby! Do that thang!! ;D ;D Despite being very windy, I still went out and did it. Now flies on rails, and does what it's supposed to! Beautiful!! Really looks the part in the air (Quite a few times it was just hovering, the wind being roughly 20 mph or so). Definately build one, but: Reinforce the 'neck' of the fuz, just in front of the LE. definate weak spot. Also, for first flights, aileron throws to minimum. I had mine set 50% on dual rates, it was far too much! This flight only set at 20%, which was plenty. Flaps are really effective!

" I could either have another plane, or, if not, I'm converting to Islam, and getting another wife - your choice." That A-10 really is a lovely plane.......
