way to go Captain Killjoy, you've once again brought me back down to ground level from a state of optimism. Anyway, at least I didn't stuff up my cub due to something as stupid as reversing the eleva... or wait, nevermind. As the old saying goes "reach for the stars but keep your feet on the ground"

A little comment about warm beer may start "World War 3". Jeeeez, typical American, a minor disagreement and he wants to start a war!!! John Yeah the question is though, will he turn up on time or half way through and then claim it was his victory??

John It's worked well for the past 150 years when we've have good leadership in the Administrative and Legislative branches. It fails miserably whenever we have poor leadership and poor economic policies that render us impotent.

You hit the nail on the head except the word (impotent) is a bit of an understatement!!!!!!

Yesterday I was doubled over with laughter! Today I'm worried that this is turning into a political thread!!!!

Not to mention when your own government murders innocent civilians as it fakes attacks on itself to rally support for a war that would otherwise be condemned. Oops, there I go plugging that 911 truth movement again. www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEuJimaumW4

Look, I'm not here to debate politics, so I'll leave it in this thread and not continue. I have plenty of other forums to do that on. I'll leave you with this last comment on politics. We have diametrically opposed political parties in the US. If there were the slightest possible chance that the other party let something like 9/11 occur, the opposing party would destroy them and take 100% control of the government. Conspiracies are too hard to pull off.

Back to our regularly scheduled motor/ESC mod thread... I flew the SC with my new SuperTigre 370 motor and SuperTigre 20A ESC. It flew as good or better than the stock set-up. I got a good amount of fly time, but it was hard to judge as I did several landings and take offs, and some taxiing. I did a bad job balancing, as it took full up trim on the elevator. I had put weight on the firewall in the interest of expediency, but will move it to the front edges of the motor mount on the bottom and both sides. IF I were to do it again, I would probably be happy with this motor/ESC combo. I would step up to the 400 sized motor if I didn't already have the 400. The only negative is the 3 position motor mount, rather than the more standard 4 sided mount.

Hmm, this did go a bit awry didn't it. Anyway, back to planes. Leisure, you say the balancing didn't work too well. I believe you are saying it was tail heavy (added weight to the firewall). Not surprising really as (according to the specs) that motor weighs in at a lowly 39 grammes. Obviously you block of wood will add some more but it's still quite a bit lighter than the stock motor. You could try moving your ESC into the cowl, this has two benefits in that it'll be cooler and also adds a bit more up front. It's good practice to try to balance the plane without adding weight that does nothing functional. You'll probably have to extend your ESC leads that feed from the battery, the distance required for this is not a concern as it's only a few inches. Even the 400 is a little on the light side for a B/L motor for this bird. It would certainly help a bit and would liven it up even more than what you've already experienced.

I'll definitely try moving the ESC up front. Just need to order some appropriately gauged wire to extend the battery leads.

@john66, thanks for sending me the info about your 35-36 flights!!!
@ ginginho & leisurehoot, Moving the ESC up front is a great idea!!!!! Unless you fly with floats. In one way I'm glad that I went diving with my CUB last week(see my video). If not, I may have in some future project also mounted the ESC up front. If you fly off terafirma no problem, if you later install floats you may want to re-work your ESC placement. I would add dead weight. It's not an issue for the CuB!!!! I watched a video last night on you tube (tinkermanrc) this guy is flying a e-flight 480 brushless, ailerons,Flaps,Dual water rudders with a 3 bladed prop. Total weight is over 32 ounces. He says it flys great and watching his video seems to confirm that.As I have mentioned in earlier posts I have flown with much more than 32 Oz. I don't recommend it for daily flying but 30,31,32 ounces, I would be amazed if after flying with that little added weight you would be disappointed. Last night I took all the dihedral out of my wing. The wing now lays flat on the table, and some of my mod parts that I ordered from US based companies should start showing up today. I feel like a kid in a candy store.

I feel like a kid in a candy store. You probably are aware, but just in case you aren't, know that the flight characteristics change quite a bit with this. No more thumbs off the sticks and let it level out itself at height, it won't!
