I was flying my cub yesterday in 10mph winds, gorgeous sunny day. Flew into the sun accidentally but expected to come out. The plane disappeared! I could hear it for another 20 secs but was blinded. A little girl was practicing batting with her father across the field and noticed I was looking for the plane. She pointed it out about a good 1/4 mi away downwind, about 600 ft up and fading fast. I lucked out and was able to bring it back. I thanked her several times. If it wasn't for her, I would have lost it. I think the combination of the wind with the sun did me in. Next time I'll make a note to look down wind first. Makes sense especially in those conditions. :0 dave mc
