i am trying to modify my HZ cub with ailerons, but none of the articles show you how to install the hinges that connect the ailerons to the plane itself! could someone please help?

just sticky tape them on with blenderm (hinge tape). You can check out mine in the video of 'my new cub' in the plane building section here. You have to cut a recess into the hinges and wing to allow the ailerons to move freely. I'd recommend only cutting the recess into the bottom of the ailerons so the top of the wing remains smooth.

To answer your question - most likely no one sells them because they require replacing the entire electronics of the SC to have somewhere to plug in the new aileron and/or flap servos.
So a $50 wing with ailerons would only work with an extra $75-125 worth of electronics (new ESC, receiver, 2 new servos to replace the existing elevators and rudder servos)

You can use these probably best in conjunction with some blenderm tape or similar. I believe you make a slot with an xacto knife the correct size to insert them and epoxy them in, taking care to vaseline the actual hinge in order as not too accidentally glue it so it no longer swivels. I believe the part No. is DB119 SM www.modelshopleeds.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?currency=GBP&products_id=1419John

It's a model railroad lube for locomotives. It is plastic compatible and has a needle tip applicator. Much easier than vaseline. Obviously, vaseline is free if you already have it.

thanx for all the help. i'm gonna go through with the aileron mounting, probably using that tape stuff or milk jugs (it was in the movie). my favorite part is the fact that i'm gonna use the parts i have around, so a traxxas 12 turn motor is going in the nose. i'll balance it with a bit of clay...

After seeing lots of people just use hinge tape to attach their ailerons and flaps with, using actual hinges just seems like too much bother to me

Are you calling me a homosexual? John Sometime right after this post John showed up as a guest when I see his posts. Did he get booted for that or is it just me?

You thrive on 'too much bother'. You tried to make a 'silk purse' out of a Cub, spent months and a fair amount of $$ doing it.
