Don't let any one tell ya your tires are to big for your SC 35" Alaskan Bush wheels... The wheels on the plane are 26". Some feel the 26" wheel is a large bush wheel Attachments:

35's are definatly the rage on a PA-18. where was that picture taken? loks like the tundra up here
You have got to be kidding about 4.5 Trexlers. That would be pretty cool to see. Im at work another few days but I ordered 3" trexlers and they are sitting at home waiting to be mounted!!!

This is what showing off does.... No pilot license, not even a student license... Medical was pulled for drinking and driving too many times. He was trying to water skip and the picture tells the rest. He has cute little 31's Attachments:

Big tyres are catching on here in NZ - A few guys are sticking them on cubs, pacers and 185's Flew a super cub in Oz years ago on banner towing that had big wheels fitted - almost stuck it on its back the first time I landed it on seal (man those big wheels bite) - after that I choose grass if I could.

This is a nice video of the types of places a cub with big wheels can land... pretty much anywhere...

Dillzio, That video was filmed here in alaska not to far from where I live. Lonnie, Alex and Shaun Lundt were out having fun filming each other. Lonnie is a well know "teacher" of flying cubs in the bush. Do a web search on Shaun Lundt. He was an amazing photographer. Shaun passed away while flying in western Alaska with Lonni. He stalled while flying low over the beach looking at whale bones. this is what we call the moose hunter stall. Here is a link to some of the most amazing pictures and his blog. It takes a bit to down load but well worth it. Helikiwi will love these photos of Shaun's work. Lots of cool flying stuff. shaunlunt.typepad.com/

Your welcome. His photos are amazing. Even though he passed at a young age he did so doing what he loved.
Any time someone wants to ask what I love about Alaska all I have to do is show them those pictures. I take for granted what we have here.
Lonnie Haberstzer (aka cubdriver 749er) has a couple videos for sale and one has him teaching Shaun how to land shorter with more of a bush approach. Great stuff to watch. I belive alot of his stuff is on Youtube

Most guys up here land short of the asphalt in the gravel approach. This reduces the problem you had and also wear. The big 35's don't like to turn on the hard stuff either.
