Once in awhile I will read the NTSB list of aviation accident reports and most of the time the pilot did something that made a bad situation even worse. Here is my story
Today I went out flying and I started out with my 8 cell Elite. Had a great flight with several landings none of which were bad. After the 8 cell was done I put in my 7 cell. Put the plane on the ground and hit the throttle....nothing. Control surfaces moved but no motor. So I gave it a kick with my foot and boom away she went. Now in the back of my mind I thought "I had better land because something isn't right" but I flew around anyway. Did another landing repositioned the plane and then hit the throttle....nothing. This time I thought I had better find out what was going on. Looked inside the cowling and one wire leading to the motor was off. It wasn't even close to touching. How that thing stayed on long enough for me to land I'll never know.

Hi Todd, Electrical current is your friend in this situation. It tends to hold the rapidly degrading parts in connection. I just changed a 60 model Lear starter/ generator that the terminals fell apart in my hands. The copper lugs were PURPLE, the flight crew reported no issues on the flight, LOL! I'll take the bus next time! Andy
