So I bought a stock prop from my LHS today and went flying I was full throttle at about 300 feet and this horrific noise started coming from my cubby. I cut the throttle and glided in. One blade was missing.

I got a stock prop when I was a fresh newbie. It was HORRIBLE-plane shook something awful. OK > time to learn to balance. Did that. No improvement and it didn't seem that bad to start.
Then I noticed the #$(*# was BENT, as in crooked. No more expensive stock props for me.

Switch brands. Those are expensive and weak. Grand Wing System and Master Airscrew are the best. Wooden props are great but might be too heavy and your LHS may not carry electric-versions.

So I decided to give the stock props one more chance since the fit perfectly and I'm lazy

I second the Master Airscrews, and the wooden actually weigh less depending on the type of wood The stock props are bad. There so flimsy and thin! but don't pick up any random prop, just get like a 10x6 at most for the stock motor on lipos. (on nimh's they got away with selling you the 10x8's) and do not try a 11x7 with the stock motor on lipos. your motor will shred itself.

Will I have to modify the master airscrew to fit the shaft and nut?

You'd have to by a collet adapter that fit's on the shaft. I believe it's somewhere between 3.17mm and 4mm. The Eflite 450 Adapters fit on the stock shaft, you do have to cut the shaft abit shorter though. www.e-fliterc.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=EFLM1924www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXTDS8&P=SMwith either of these (or others that you find again 3.17-4mm) and a cut down prop shaft, you should be able to fly with pretty much any other brand of prop besides GWS and Stock. Oh yes, and you would have to drill out the props just a tiny bit to fit on the adapter. Considering that you broke a stock prop on a stock motor (assuming that you didn't rig it so we would boycott Hobbyzone) I'd say that this is one of the better ways to go. It gives you many more options on prop choices and allows you to experiment ;D

I love hobbyzone I love my Cubby. They are a good company. I told my son that people are gonna think this was stagged but its not I just wish these props were better It just stinks we have to go buy adapters and find a different brand of props since these things break so easily ...I cant be the only on this happens to. img192.imageshack.us/i/propbreak.jpg/img594.imageshack.us/i/propbreak2.jpg/Notice no damage except for the missing blades
