Ok I think I get what you are saying, I guess it would be better to use the prop adapter for a 3mm shaft then to balance it then switch to the 4mm for my shaft afterwards? Unfortunately I dont have a vice nor magnets or magents if you prefer? . I use a bench sized B&D workmate (no legs) as my vice at the mo, though a proper vice is on the shopping list. Thanks again ginginho. John I'm not sure you'd want to use a prop adaptor during balancing. Two reasons, it may effect the balancing of the prop if it itself is not well balanced, and secondly, when you swap to the other one, will it also be as well balanced (and more importantly if it isn't), will you be able to align the prop so that any imbalance in the first is replicated in the second. Just let the prop sit between the cones while balancing, at least you'll get what you after, i.e. a balanced prop. As for magnets, got any old motors lying around? I butchered an old one I had from a RC car, a bit of effort but two big fat (albeit curved) magnets were rescued. The B&D workbench will do, as long as you attach the magnets (tape?) to the opposing faces allowing the prop to hang inbetween.

When I said prop adapters I meant the small plastic rings that sit inside the reccess of the prop as opposed to a prop adapter shaft, does this make any difference? Sorry Im not questioning what you say, just wondering if I may have caused some confusion by calling them prop adapters?

Good point John. APC is pretty clear on their props that the plastic adapter ring is necessary for proper alignment of the center. I would use the same adapter you would use on the shaft. www.apcprop.com/v/html/tech_support_notice.html#holealignFor some of the other clone props-good luck.

I thought you meant the ali type of adaptor that actually holds the prop on the shaft. As Fly says, use the one you'll use when it's on the plane, use the cones to pinch it so that it's not loose and wobbling.
